You wouldn't guess that this chocolate cake is dairy and egg free
Ingredients
Self raising flour | 2 cups |
Cocoa powder | 1/2 cup |
Bicarbonate of soda | 1 1/2 teaspoons |
Baking powder | 1 teaspoon |
Sugar | 1 cup |
Salt | 1 teaspoon |
Dairy free yoghurt (I used plain soya) | 500ml |
Plant oil (I used walnut oil) | 1/4 cup |
Vanilla essence | 1 1/2 teaspoon |
Dairy free butter | 50g |
Icing sugar | 1 cup |
Vanilla essence | 1/2 teaspoon |
Method
1 | Preheat oven to 175 degrees celsius |
2 | Grease and fit baking parchment to cake tins |
3 | Measure flour, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder, sugar and salt into a bowl and mix well |
4 | Add yoghurt, oil, vanilla essence to dry ingredients and beat well |
5 | Pour into baking tins and bake in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes. Test cake is cooked by sticking a sharp knife into the centre of the cake and ensuring it comes out clean. |
